A Couple of Jazz by MysticYuna A Couple of Jazz by MysticYuna
Julia and Fokker dance at the ballroom for an evening Valentine party.

A different version of my Powerstone characters. :)
I got inspired sketching this classic art especially because I was listening to jazz when I drew this.
Well, I'm not really impressed with the finished piece; especially that I had the wrong shading on the white garments. I was actually trying to make a yellow-light effect from them but it didn't work well...I colored this in Photoshop 2.1 so i wasn't able to correct it, lol
This art has been 3 years uncolored, and thank goodness I was able to have time for some coloring.
And since it had been years, I forgot all about digital coloring, really! Well, I've nothing else to say, just tell me what you think about it. :-)

Usually naman square-chin yung drawing ko sa guys eh, but I just changed it for something new. :)

First of all, I say "wow" for photoshop 2.1 ! lol. I didn't even think computers would still run it..
Now the drawing itself, and I'll be honest, because I know you like it when I'm honest about your art.. :P
Considering that this is an old lineart, and the tool you used to color it, I have to say it is rather impressive. The "shiny" parts are not as bad as you may think. I like her hair, even though it's blond (but this is not your fault.. lol), I like the curls, as I'm always reluctant to draw curls because I kind of find it hard to make them look good. So good job on this.

Now, I don't really like the overall colors to it, as it is a bit too "light" and "bright" for me, but you'll understand me on this, judging by my own art.. lol. The "shiny" parts could have been done better, I know you can do better, but once again the tool you used is not the best. Even the most talented craftman won't do marvels with a cheap screwdriver.. lol
Maybe the skin is a bit too "pinkish", but that's a style, and my personal opinion.. lol
I like the lines, I really do, even though they're quite old now, and even though I find the hats a bit "shaky"

I actually like this drawing, in spite of the light colors, but like you, I'm not impressed by the result. I know you can do much much more better than that (not grammatically correct?.. aw who cares.. lol).
Nevertheless, you have the (good) excuse of the old lineart and the old photoshop and "rusty" skills due to the time you didn't work this way.. lol

Keep up the good work Jenny :)
I'm looking foward to see more art from you ;)
And yeah, I know you're still waiting for your Sudden Venture cover.. :P

I would like to start the same way you started your comment. XD

Ahem.
First of all I would like you to know that you sounded like Simon Cowell with your comment  but don't get me wrong! Your comments are really, really constructive. *says it with Simon Cowell's voice & accent*
Anyway, going back, I thank you for liking it somehow for a Photoshop 2.1 color version. But believe it or not, all my digitally-colored artworks are in Photoshop 2.1 XD I am only training myself with Photoshop 7 (at least quite an advanced tool) this month, and I find it really, really difficult. (with SC accent again XD) And yes, our PC is in Windows XP and come to think of it---PS 2.1 works!
Curls are gem to draw, most especially that not everyone has the talent to draw them. But the worst is drawing guys with curly hair XD (Hey, how does that go!?)
And yeah, I guess I made an error with their pinkish complexion, since I find it hard coloring Caucasian skin. All I know is that you guys are pinkish, but I guess I exaggerated it, lol!
Another  for the hats. I'm really guilty with the way I outlined them, since I'm not really careful with outlining (or could it be my pen? Excuses! XD)
I was a bit intimidated with how you said your comment, because you really sounded like...erm...Simon Cowell! I could imagine myself in American Idol instead of Deviant Art, double
But really, don't get me wrong. I love your frank comments and I am very challenged about it. Thanks for the comment, and I'll do my best!

Simon Cowell !! That's a good one!
First of all, I could have started with a I don't mean to be rude, but..... lol
I can understand that you have some difficulties using photoshop 7, when you used 2.1 all along for all this time.. (you mean, in 7 years that I know you, you were using 2.1 ?... I personnally started with 4.0.. :P). But you are a wonderful singer, er, I mean, artist, and I'm sure you can show us that I am right.
As for the caucasian skin, take my advice for what it is worth.. Add a bit of yellow in all this pink.. Yes it should make the skin more 'orangish', but actually that's more like it. Look at the colors I use in my self portrait, it's more yellow/orange than pink. But then these characters are blond-haired. It's kind of true blond people are more likely to be pinkish..

Don't be intimidated by my comments, I'm just saying what I think, because I think that's one of the ways to getting better.
We all have something to learn from others, right ? ;)

Simon Cowell...
